I opened my shop in 2008 and began making different items to entertain myself during the last trimester of pregnancy with my first son. It was almost a year before I landed on crocheting photography props. Crocheting is something I really enjoy. My great grandmother, Mama Bea, taught me one summer when I was twelve. She made intricate, beautiful afghans and delicate lace doilies. She even sold some of her work too. When I was young, I crocheted little pot holders, blankets and clothes for my dolls.
It wasn't until I started my Etsy shop and saw the photography props some other sellers were making that I became inspired to create my own. My little baby modeled my early work, but it wasn't until I connected with a local photographer that my store really took off. I love the simplicity and beauty of designing hats for babies. I had my second son a few years later and he modeled more of my work. I have continued to design new hat styles and products, but the Bear hat remains my best seller. This summer I had my third son and had to take an extended break from crocheting due to a bad bought of pregnancy carpal tunnel. I so missed crocheting, but thankfully, I was able to make some very sweet hats and blankets that would keep my little guy snuggly in handmade goodness when he was born. You can now see my squishy little guy modeling my newest designs and lovey blankets. Crocheting these hats while my three little guys are sleeping or working while we watch a movie together helps to keep me at home with them.
